Melbourne - Sydney: An unexpected road trip
Our week in Melbourne ended earlier than expected.
Wednesday we spent a day strolling around Melbourne and enjoying the city. Melbourne is a lovely place, but the backpackers we were staying in was not making us very happy. We were trying to think of what to do the next couple of days. I thought of maybe renting a car for a day and checking out Melbourne and surroundings. When browsing for a car I stumbled upon relocation deals. For those of you who do not know: relocation rentals are offered by rental companies who have a car in one place but need it in another.
So they offer cheap deals for people who are willing to move the car to where they want it. So I sent them a mail telling we were interested Wednesday evening late. Thursday when we woke up I got a call from the company asking if we were still interested. Of course we were! So he let us know the requested vehicle (a campervan) was not available anymore, but they did have a 4wd that needed relocating.
So I had a chat with Tim, and in a very spontaneous mood we decided to take the deal there and then. It meant canceling the next 2 nights at the hostel and packing straight away to go pick up the car. Very exciting!!! So an hour later we were off to the rental company to pick up the car. And boy, it was a big car! I have never in my life driven a car that big. Also a first for me: shifting with my left hand. So lots of adventures before we even left Melbourne, and it doesn't stop there. Please check back here to find part two of this road trip story.

Inderdaad een heel vette 4x4 . He Tim geeft zeker een 'A-team "gevoel? Wat een goed idee om zo verder te reizen. Hoop dat het weer wat opknapt.
Hier sneeuwt het weer eens. Opening olympische spelen had ook in noord mogelijk geweest.

Joreel, je bent me er een! Als je in een saai jeugdhotel opeens naar een relocation deal gaat googelen, dan heb je wel het het ware wereldreizigersbloed in je. Fantastisch.

Hoi Joreel en Tim,
Dat is nog eens spannend met een 4x4 en schakelen met je linkerhand (weet je nog in NZ). Ik veronderstel dat je de auto terug moet brengen naar Sidney. Gaan jullie dan nog met 4x4 door het binnenland over ruige weggetjes?
Zitten jullie nog in Lake Entrance? Wij hebben daar "gekanood" en een boottochtje gemaakt. En natuurlijke lekker verse vis gegeten, maar daar houd Joreel niet van!.

Ha joos en wies,
nee we moesten die auto binnen 2,5 dag in sydney afleveren dus daar zijn we inmiddels nu alweer 2 dagen. We hadden graag langer gebleven want het was daar prachtig. Maar canoen zat er voor ons toch niet in aangezien we noodweer hadden de hele reis...jammer he!
