Melbourne: City Life
Last Saturday we arrived in Melbourne early because we needed to drop off the car. We checked into our hotel before we did that, and went to europcar to return our (damaged) car.
Returning the car was not without a hassle. Because we had damage we had to fill out all these forms and pay a lot of money. Both our credit cards didn't have enough spending room on it to pay for such an amount, so it took quite a while before the girl arranged some other form of later payment and we could finally head off. It was not the best day though – I had just put my signature under the biggest (besides our house) bill i've ever had to pay for: $3900 . Ouch... Let's hope we get most of that back!
After this we went back to the hotel and spend the day resting since I was still ill. We ordered room service and relaxed and watched two Start Wars episodes. What a night. The next day I felt better so we spent the day by the pool to catch some much needed sun rays. We went for dinner at china town and had a nice evening.
Yesterday (monday) we had to check out of our hotel and move to a backpackers. Not the best move, but we can't sleep in hotels every day unfortunately. After we moved in we headed off for some shopping and to explore Melbourne. We had breakfast by the river and after that had a great afternoon shopping. We had dinner at this greek place and after that we just relaxed and went to bed.
Today we spent the day at the beach. The rest of the week the weather is supposed to get worse so we wanted to enjoy the last day of sunshine the best we could. So we took the tram to St. Kilda and seated ourselves on a nice spot of beach and chilled in the sun for the day. Now we're back at the backpackers and we're about ready to make dinner.
