We had a great BBQ!” January 24th—Uluru, australia

Uluru, australia — Joreel Siegel, January 24th

Outback Safari part 2

It was an amazing night and the group we were with is a lot of fun. We had beers and dinner watching the sun set. After the sunset we went back to the campground to set up camp. We were sleeping under the stars tonight. It was absolutely amazing to see all the stars. We went to bed quite early because we had to get up very early the next morning.

Day 2:

We woke up at 4.30. We were in the bus by 5 am heading off to Uluru again for breakfast and the sunrise. We spent about an hour there watching the sun rise and we got back in the bus to go to Kata Tjuta (the olgas) for another hike. The sun was out at this time and it got warmer and warmer by the minute. The hike took us about 2,5 hours and by the end of it I was totally exhausted. It was quite a difficult walk! After we got back we headed back to the campground for lunch. After that we spent most of the day driving to our next campsite: Kings Canyon. We arrived at the end of the afternoon and spent the rest of the day in the pool and chilling out before Jason cooked us a great chili. We had some more beers by the campfire before we went to bed early again. The next day was gonna be an early rise again.

Day 3:

Again we got up at 4.30. We had breakfast and drove out to Kings Canyon where we were gonna do another hike. We were told it was going to be more strenuous than yesterday, so I was quite scared. The first part of the hike was going to be the worst. It was a steep climb up a very steep hill. It took us about 30 minutes to get on top, but after that it was smooth sailing. The walk was incredibly beautiful and we enjoyed it a lot. Because we started so early we finished the hike by 10.30 – which was good because the weather started heating up nice again. After this we headed back to Alice Springs. We had 2 more stops – one for lunch and one at a camel farm. We arrived back at our hostel around 5 pm.

Together with 4 others from the tour that were staying at our hostel we went shopping for dinner. We had a great BBQ (yours truly was cooking!) and had a great dinner before turning in early after 3 days of hard work and little sleep. All in all a great adventure, but it did remind me of how much I really hate camping and hiking, so I think I won't be doing any of this again soon! Tim however loved it very much!!

You can see all of our pictures from Alice Springs here.

Dope bril hoor Joreel!

    Veel plezier in Adelaide!
