Perth, australia — Joreel Siegel, January 17th
Perth
The first destination of our trip was Perth. The flight from Hong Kong took us only 7 hours and our brightly colored bags arrived in under 5 minutes. Walking out of the airport, all we saw where palm trees. Good stuff!
When our friendly cab driver lifted the bags into the car his way to small thong came out! My first “guys wale tale” experience wasn't a pretty one.
For our first few nights we booked a nice hotel through Joreel's job to comfortably get over our jetlags. We stayed in east Perth, about a ten minute walk from the city center. The hotel has a great river-view pool and other great facilities. Nice!!
Our first day in Perth was all about getting settled. First stop: sunscreen shopping, because the ozzie sun is very strong and we don't want to get sunburned the first day we get in. Next off to buy some sim cards so we can make some calls locally, and off to find some breakfast. We got nice food from the supermarket and headed down to the river to enjoy our home-made brunch. What a lovely first impression of Perth!
Wednesday the weather forecast was telling us it would be 38 degrees, so the people at the hotel adviced us to head down to the beach, and so we did! We took a train, a bus and about an hour later we sat our asses down on a white sandy beach. What a life! In the evening we went to bed early because thursday we needed to pick up the car from Hertz to start our 5 day trip up the west coast!
